Free events at MSFW

It’s that crazy time of year again. The fashion crowd is suddenly out in force all over the CBD and wild prints clashing with neon colours become an everyday occurrence.

Yes, it is MSFW (or Melbourne Spring Fashion Week). Fashion-lovers travel from all over to see the up-coming trends on the catwalk.

But you don’t have to be in the media or famous to take part. There are a variety of events that the public can attend for free (although some may require bookings in advance).

MSFW has a variety of events on between August 28 – September 4. And plenty of them are free! A lot of designers and retailers are holding free runway events to show their new collections. Here are some that are open to the public:

David Jones Runway to Raceday
31, 12pm – 12.30pm
31, 1pm – 1.30pm

Forever New Runway
1, 5pm – 5.30pm
1, 6pm – 6.30pm

Ted Baker Runway
September 2, 5.45pm – 6.15pm

OnceWas Runway
 4, 5pm – 5.30pm
September 4, 6pm – 6.30pm

Emporium Runway
Located at 279 Little Bourke St
August 28, 6.30pm – 7pm




There are also free events for those who prefer hair and make up:

Kevin Murphy Style Bar
This will be available throughout MSFW at the Hub – visit for times.

Hair and Makeup Workshop
August 31, 6.30pm – 7.30pm

Vogue has also partnered with MSFW to bring Vogue Fashion’s Night Out (VFNO) to Melbourne on Friday, August 28. VFNO will debut at MSFW: Shop the City, which will take place across Melbourne from August 28 – August 30.
